CHS Services

 

 

 

 

Christian Heritage School exists to provide guidance,    accountability and support to home-educating parents.

 

CHS student has fun learning about animals.

A CHS student feeding a calf at Amy's Farm, a calf nursery in Chino, where students learn about the special care needed for dairy calves. Besides feeding the calves, they visit the other animals on the farm and pick vegetables that are in season from the garden.

 Guidance:

  teacher training seminars

  homeschool topic speakers

  educational consultants on staff for curriculum suggestions and guidance in choosing

    courses

  mentors for new families

  small group meetings to further your educational knowledge and learn from others’ 

     experiences

  guidance and support for parents of children with learning difficulties
 

Accountability (and academic services):

  affidavit filed on behalf of all member families

  cumulative files maintained

  record keeping forms provided

  quarterly reports required and follow-up done

  annual achievement testing available for all ages (required grades 6-9 only)
 

Support:

  field trips, assemblies and other activities

  lending library containing children’s literature (some as audio books) by Christian

     authors as well as books, video and audio tapes for parents

 

  school identity (helps take pressure off children when asked what school they attend): t-

     shirts, school pictures, I.D. cards, yearbook

 

  monthly newsletter which includes information on school activities and requirements,

    teaching tips, information about classes offered for homeschool students, legal updates,

    family field trip ideas and more

Activities:

    Optional activities are planned to provide for educational enrichment as well as fellowship for both parents and children. They offer opportunities to fine-tune students’ social skills and help to quiet the fears of relatives and friends on the subject of socialization. The kinds of activities you can expect are:

  educational field trips

  park days

  student assemblies

  reading incentive program

  Presidential Physical Fitness Challenge

  end-of-year recognition event

  graduation ceremonies for 6th, 8th and senior high (diplomas for kindergartners)

  sports program for most ages
 

 

Sports Program:
 

Christian Heritage Knights operate under California Home School Sports.   CHSS is an affiliate program of CHS made up of parents providing sports training and competition opportunities for most ages. Competitive volleyball, basketball, track and cross-country are currently offered.  CHSS also sponsors some sports events for the homeschool community, such as a basketball tournament attended by groups from western and midwest states.


 

High School Help:
 

Continuing homeschooling through the high school years is a privilege and the natural continuation of earlier training. Services for high school include:

 

  planning appropriate courses with the high school advisor

  close monitoring of high school progress and courses

  separate teen social or educational activities

  PSAT/NMSQT

  diploma and transcript

 

 

Families With Preschool Ages Only:


    We encourage families with preschool age children who are considering homeschooling to contact us about an associate membership allowing participation in activities and meetings.
